We all know what happens when the clock strikes midnight on the first day of each new year: resolutions, be they big or small (after that last sip of champagne). More often than not, our resolve is health or wellness-related in some form or another, so here’s a verbal moodboard as an ode to our favorite fitness-related newcomers most likely to keep us on our game throughout 2017.
1. BOX + FLOW
2016 got you down? Release your frustration at NoHo’s newest workout concept, Box + Flow. Founded by former hospitality maven Liv Young, the 50-minute boxing-meets-power-yoga session will have you feeling both depleted and uplifted all at the same time. Perfect for those who also enjoy a good staircase selfie.
If you haven’t already signed up for the latest and greatest fitness class app, now’s your chance. FitReserve is the perfect way to keep things interesting and approachable, allowing members to sign up for premium classes of all genres on demand at the click of a button — it’s also available in outer boroughs (and even Jersey) so you can keep the momentum going no matter where you are. To put it simply: no excuses.
3. Y7 STUDIO
Calling all hip hop and yoga lovers: you can have the best of both worlds, thanks to Sarah Levey’s HIIT fitness concept. Energize both mind and body while honing your Biggie lip syncing skills — your multitasking abilities will be as sharp as ever, as will your Handstand Scorpion. Be sure to ask about their Costa Rica retreat beginning 1/29/2017.
4. BANDIER’S STUDIO B
Fashion, music, and fitness collide just one floor above Bandier’s Fifth Avenue flagship store. Studio B offers the best of yoga, cardio, and HIIT through a variety of tailored classes, all with soundtracks motivating enough for any born-again fitness devotee. Warning: you might also leave with a new outfit after every single class, so try to leave your wallet out of reach. Or don’t.
Indoor cycling takes on a whole new meaning thanks to Peloton, a state-of-the-art bike that streams guided classes at your every whim. Head to the Chelsea studio to test it out, and bring home your own machine for the full experience within the comfort of your own apartment-turned-spin-class.
