The LIVunLtd-Approved March Agenda

Come March, it’s all about flora and fauna in NYC. (Well, perhaps not the latter, unless you count flocks of pigeons city-wide and the occasional raccoon in Central Park). Those with a penchant for orchids and four leaf clovers — or spring blooms in general — prematurely celebrate the arrival of the new season through various demonstrations of appreciation, so whether that means wandering the sunny corridors of the New York Botanical Gardens or braving the masses at Macy’s Herald Square for the annual flower shows, there’s something for everyone. As for the non-committal? Bodega flowers are lovely this time of year.

Read on for our nature-inspired March agenda as curated by your LIVunLtd concierge.

Orchid Show | NYBG | Through April 9, 2017

There’s no better time or reason to get out to the Bronx than the 15th annual Orchid Show. While last year’s theme was rather Victorian, this year visitors are transported across the globe to Thailand, where Vanda orchids bloom like there’s no tomorrow. Make a day of it and plan for a leisurely lunch at Stephen Starr’s Hudson Garden Grill. Your concierge can assist with transport, ticket procurement, and reservations.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade | Various locations | March 17, 2017

While there are typically fewer flowers involved in the city’s cherished holiday parades, there’ll be plenty of four leaf clovers and inspired paraphernalia roaming the streets for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Snag a spot along the route, which runs up Fifth Avenue from 44th Street past the cathedral and all the way up to the American Irish Historical Society on 80th Street.

Macy’s Flower Show | Macy’s Herald Square | March 26 through April 9, 2017

Macy’s is known for many things, especially throughout holiday seasons. But in late March, the Flower Show is a holiday in itself, celebrating the art of floral arrangement on a grand scale. Last year’s show featured over a million flowers, to put things into perspective. The 43rd annual Macy’s Flower Show is complimentary and open to the public.
