The PUBLIC Hotel Goes Public

Ian Schrager has done it again. From Studio 54 to the New York Edition, the man who inspired ‘boutique hotels’ brings PUBLIC to the Lower East Side. As one would expect, the sophisticated, yet provocative LES hotel is a design standout, from the cozy one bedrooms to the grandiose top floor suite. But chic, ‘luxury for all’ accommodations are not the only thing this hotel has to offer. PUBLIC is also a premier dining destination with 5 different spaces to wine and dine, all brought to you by the iconic Jean-Georges.

Public Kitchen

The dining scene centers around Public Kitchen, JG’s casually elegant hot spot that makes use of a smoker, 3 wood-burning ovens, and a wood-burning grill. Serving up seasonal, American dishes that will satisfy any diet, this noteworthy restaurant is refined, stylish, and open for both lunch and dinner.

Diego

Plush couches, a fireplace, global beats and eclectic wall art by Diego Rivera are all highlights of this intimate cocktail bar inspired by a private gentleman’s club. Diego is open daily from 7pm to 2am, offers an eclectic menu of bites from JG, and a unique libations menu.

The Roof

Boasting 360-degree views of Manhattan (hello, sunset!), this energetic cocktail bar with floor-to-ceiling windows is the ideal locale for a pre-dinner drink (opens at 5pm) or a sceney, late-night dance party (closes at 2am).

The Garden

Seasonally, the spacious outdoor terrace will serve as a communal lounge space where you can catch up on emails or catch some rays.

The Lobby Bar

Open all day (11am to 12pm), this living-room-like lounge has plenty of seating, free WiFi, loads of natural light and power outlets galore, making it an excellent site to set up shop from day into evening.

Louis

This luncheonette, market and coffee shop combo offers organic, gourmet lunch options that are great to stay or to grab on-the-go. The best part? It’s open from 6:30am to 3am.

Public Arts

In true Ian Schrager spirit, the hotel’s impressive ‘avant-garde multi-media performance space’ will host unique programming, from film screenings to open mic nights.

Trade

As if that wasn’t reason enough to frequent the new hot spot, PUBLIC also has a new retail concept based on a ‘no brand’ philosophy — in other words, one-of-a-kind lifestyle products expertly curated by Ian’s wife, Tania Schrager. Not your average hotel gift shop!
