Meet Nadine Head-Gordon, the astrologer behind Nadine Jane Astrology, the Instagram and YouTube platforms that deliver astrological insights through beautiful imagery and language. We sat with Nadine to chat about her passion for the stars and how she channeled it into an educational social media platform that has attracted over 180k followers.

What is your sign? How does that translate into your work?

I am an Aquarius. A quadruple Aquarius, meaning my Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Saturn are all in Aquarius. Aquarius is the rebel, so this is a major contributing factor. I chose a career that horrifies my chemistry professor parents. Aquarius is also the humanitarian, so it makes me very motivated to connect with and work with people.

How did you get your start in astrology?

When I was 9 years old, I remember reading that one of my favorite female soccer players shared the same birthday as me. The article said she was an Aquarius. I had no idea what that meant but it always made me enormously proud to be an Aquarian. It was only once I found out about Natal Charts [a map of where all the planets were in their journey around the Sun at the exact moment you were born] that my interest became an obsession. I studied anything and everything I could about my own chart, and that gave way to me reading my friends charts, eventually my coworkers, and now people around the world!

Aside from your interest in astrology, what inspired you to turn it into a business?

I actually took a Front-End Web Development course and had to design and build a website for my final project. The teacher made it clear that it should be a “passion project.” So building an astrology website was a no-brainer. It actually ended up influencing the design system I came up for the Instagram account (@nadinejane_astrology) I would launch a year and a half later, and is the site that I use today.

How can astrology help people?

It has taught me how connected we all are. For example, if Mercury is in Retrograde and my train is delayed, and I am late for a meeting, it reminds me that everyone else on the train’s morning is a little delayed, too. Astrology is a reminder that we are all part of the same wild experience of life, and we are not alone.

Outside of graphic design and astrology, what are your passions?

Drawing and sewing! I have a creative bug that is literally never satiated.

What part of this project has been the most fun?

Meeting so many creative, courageous, caring people who are willing to open up and let me read their chart.

Do you offer natal chart readings or one-on-one sessions?

I do! They are $120/hour. Your Natal Chart is your unique astrological thumbprint. It is a picture of the sky at the exact moment that you were born. It tells a story of your personality, your dreams and desires, your close relationships, and your karmic purpose. A reading will interpret what all of this means for you. It includes a one-on-one session, a recording of the session, and a written PDF to share with their friends and loved ones.
